Role: Volunteer Firefighter / President
We all know who George Washington (February 22, 1732 -December 14, 1799) is as he’s usually talked about for being President of America. However, not a lot of people know that George also deserves a mention in the hall of flame. George was actually a volunteer firefighter in Alexandria, Virginia and later, in 1774, as a member of the Friendship Veterans Fire Engine Company, he bought a new fire engine and gave it to the town, which was its very first.
President Benjamin Franklin also was a Volunteer Firefighter in his earlier years, helping to create the first fire department in Philadelphia in the 1736.
