Role: Ambulance driver
Dennis is the first Asian ambulance driver in Wales. Starting his career as part of the Territorial Army 158 Field Ambulance division at the age of 17 Dennis was one of the brave individuals who assisted in the Aberfan disaster of 1966 when the collapse of a colliery spoil tip in the village killed 116 children and 28 adults. Dennis helped dig out children and tend to the injured.
Dennis spent his working day touching the lives of others with the ambulance service, becoming an ambassador for equality within the service. Dennis joined the National Ambulance Service BME (black and minority ethnic) Committee in 1999, this led to him creating the Trust’s first equality and diversity policy and delivering training on it to other members of staff. Dennis continues to be a well-loved, well-recognised member of the ambulance service despite recently retiring after 41 years.
