Buzz Barton

Role: Boxer, Stretcher-bearer, Air gunner for the RAF

Stafford ‘Buzz’ Barton was a famous Jamaican-born boxer, who was a first-aider and stretcher-bearer during the blitz. He left the boxing ring to offer assistance to those in need.

Buzz joined the RAF as an air gunner from England and in 1944 sadly died aged 29, in a plane crash. He was a much loved individual and a celebrated sportsman.
