Evelina Haverfield

Role: Founder of Women’s Emergency Corps

Evelina Haverfield, A committed suffragist, founded the Women’s Emergency Corps and volunteered to help in Serbia until they were forced to retreat due to German invasion. After the war, Haverfield returned to Serbia and there set up a health centre for the children of the country. In 2015, Evelina appeared on a Serbian Stamp, in remembrance for what she did for the soldiers in the First World War.
